Jack Wilson Fine Art Photography
I’m Jack Wilson. I’m a photographer.
Some say it’s impolite to ask a man where he’s from. If he’s from Texas, he’ll tell you.
I’m Jack Wilson. I’m a photographer. I’m from Texas.
I used my first cameras as tools, traveling the world, trying to tell stories that were not mine, stories told in languages I could not translate.
As a photographer, I have learned that whatever drama or comedy or tragedy I capture in still images, it is only the story of being there that any photographer can tell honestly.
With that in mind, I consciously put that in the viewfinder. I did that until it became part of my process - close my right eye and open up space in the frame for you.
I want you to be able to move around just a bit in each of the images I’ve collected here for you.
I want you to peek over shoulders and under fences.
I want you to breathe the same clean air or cough on the same dust and smoke as those whose real stories
I tell you through my lens.
I want you to feel you have to crouch down and squeeze in or to feel so small under a wide, white sky that you reach your arms out wide to your side and know that you are in no one’s way but yours.
I want you to be there with me in whatever images become your favorites.
I want you to go back to those places whenever you want because you know I saved you a spot there.
